Top 11 Vet Clinic Services in Ottawa
Pets are awesome companions. That’s why yours deserves only the best kind of care provided by a tried-and-tested vet clinic in Ottawa.
Ideally, our animal friends shouldn’t just be seeing a veterinarian when they’re sick or during emergencies. Like humans, they also need annual physical exams and wellness checks so they can live their best lives.
If you still don’t have a go-to pet clinic, we’re here to help you round up some notable ones. For us, the best animal clinics offer a full range of services from birth to (as hard as this may be for owners to accept) a pet’s end-of-life stage.
How Much Does a Vet Clinic Charge in Ottawa?
It’s understandable to balk at the thought of receiving a veterinarian’s bill after a visit. This fear of not being able to afford veterinary care has prevented many pet owners from getting their furry companions regularly checked.
Fortunately, there are ways to get quality veterinary care that’s also affordable. For instance, some animal hospitals offer comprehensive health service packages using a single or staggered payment scheme.
There are also organizations that provide yearly vaccinations and spaying and neutering services either for free or at a much lower cost than that of a private clinic. One great example is the Community Veterinary Outreach Program.
This charitable organization aims to provide veterinary care for pets whose owners are homeless or in vulnerable housing conditions. They conduct pet fairs to educate pet owners and perform full veterinary services with the help of volunteer vets and community members.
Still, it’s a good idea to estimate how much a vet clinic in Ottawa will charge for common veterinary services. Here’s a table showing the average price for each service.
VETERINARY SERVICES | PRICE |
Spaying and neutering | $200 – $750 depending on the pet’s size |
General bloodwork | $85 – $100 |
Wound treatment | $250 – $800 depending on the severity |
Dental services | $80 – $500 depending on the state of teeth |
After-hours emergency | $800 – $3000 |
Routine check-up | $50 – $100 Annual examination $200 – $500 |
Core vaccines | For puppies Rabies $15 – $20 Distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza $75 – $100 For kittens Feline panleukopenia, feline leukemia, rabies $75 – $90 |
Fecal exam | $25 – $50 |
Euthanasia | $75 – $200 depending on the size of the pet |
Please bear in mind that the prices quoted above are merely estimates and could fluctuate based on a number of factors. Your pet’s size, age, breed, state of health, as well as where and when you will get veterinary services will likely affect the vet bill.

Customer Reviews
Here’s what previous clients have to say about them:
“I can’t thank Dr. JP, Sydney, and Tina enough for the exceptional care they’ve given to my huskies. They first came to treat one of our dogs for an infected nail, and from the start, their expertise and kindness were evident. They’ve been incredibly supportive in helping her heal.
More recently, they came to see another one of our huskies, whose health was rapidly declining. After performing tests, Dr. JP diagnosed him, and sadly, we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye. Throughout this heartbreaking process, they were compassionate, patient, and gentle, which made an incredibly tough situation more manageable.
What truly sets Vet On Wheels apart is the convenience of having a vet come to your home. It’s a stress-free alternative to the clinic, especially for pets who experience anxiety. Their pricing is fair and transparent, and I always felt we received top-notch care at every step.
I highly recommend Dr. JP and his team. They’re not only skilled professionals, but also genuinely caring individuals who go above and beyond for both pets and their owners.”
‘Our cat Jerry was 17 years old and slowly fading. My instincts were telling me he didn’t have much of a future left. I decided to reach to Dr. JP whom I had met the previous summer. I felt that a mobile service to diagnose and most likely euthanize Jerry was a much better option than stressing the poor cat by driving him to a veterinary hospital. My sons and I could not have been more happy with this decision. Dr. JP and Tina showed utmost kindness, empathy and patience when they arrived at my home. Sadly, Dr. JP confirmed that it was best to say good bye to Jerry. The process was extremely professional and dignified. We were told about the steps to be taken, and allowed some private time with Jerry after each one. Jerry went peacefully and quietly, and there was no agitation or suffering. We will always have good memories of his departure, thanks to Dr. JP and Tina. We were all touched and humbled by the kindness they displayed throughout. I would strongly recommend the services of Vet on Wheels to any pet family – you will be amazed by the quality of their care. We are forever grateful to these dedicated professionals.”

Customer Reviews
These clients have positive words for Centrepoint Animal Hospital’s services:
“Wonderful service as always from Centrepointe Animal Hospital. I took my two cats in yesterday for their annual checkups. Dr. Theoret and vet tech Leslie were both awesome.
The covid19 protocols are taken seriously and I felt safe in the building and putting my cats in their care. One gets a little feisty and the other gets very nervous at the vet. Leslie is particularly good with cranky kitties and she is very gentle. Dr. Theoret did a thorough exam, was gentle with them and gave great care instructions. I always leave feeling like a valued customer and like they care about their clients. Top-notch customer service as always, despite the pandemic.” – Jay Lake
“Thank you for giving us the best possible experience during our very difficult day. We just had to give our 13-year-old dog end-of-life care. Dr. Theoret and her staff are knowledgeable, professional and extremely compassionate making a very hard time quite a bit easier. I highly recommend Centrepointe Animal Hospital for your veterinarian needs. Thank you!” – Danny McCallum

Read some Centretown Veterinary Hospital feedback if you’re thinking of setting an appointment:
“The vets are so sweet and really care about the pet’s wellbeing. They recommend things but I’ve never felt pressured to have to go through with them. (Though I do) They explain everything they do/recommend, which is great. You can send a photo of the issue through email and they will respond to it. They always gush about how good my baby was and I always leave feeling cared for. I even told the vet I was going on vacation and she remembered and asked me how my vacation was going! I live in Napean but still make the trip to Somerset just to go to this vet. And I don’t own a car!” – Lana Smith
“Can’t say enough good things about this hospital and all of the staff there. Everyone remembers us each time we visit. Our puppy Rosa loves going in so much that she tries to pulls me in anytime we walk past. The staff has done an incredible job adapting to new protocols this year, and I just wanted to say you guys are amazing. Thanks for taking such good care of my entire zoo.” – Daniel Darke

TreatWell Pet Care, the next veterinary service provider on this list, is very much aware of both facts. Hence, why TreatWell offers affordable membership plans for in-house veterinary services.
With TreatWell, pet owners have the option to have their furry friends checked over in the safety of their own homes.

Customer Reviews
Find out what past clients have to say about their VCA Ottawa experience:
“We had been at another vet and our dog was on medication that seemed to be making her sicker. They recommended we bring her here as she was fading fast. She spent the night and was given intravenous and medication. The drugs she had been on were making her high, dizzy and very ill. We settled on long-term medication and it has changed our lives for the better. Very happy with the care we received.” – Shirley P.
“We had to bring our pup there twice this past weekend – and the staff were very friendly and understanding. It started Friday night when we came home from work and our pup had developed a pretty bad eye infection while we were away. Our vet was already closed and their answering machine said to try going to the Ottawa Veterinarian Hospital. We called them and were told that if we didn’t have an appointment, we would have to wait as a walk-in customer. They said the wait wouldn’t be too long, but it all depended on how quickly we got there, and if other people came in ahead of us. We left right away and were greeted by their awesome staff. We didn’t have to wait too long before Walter was checked out. Maybe 40 mins or so. The time flew by – they weighed our pup and took down our info. There are lots of jars of different dog treats to occupy dogs…and it worked!” – Sarah P.
